Welcome Reception/Sangeet

"Sung Together"

Join us for light bites, dessert and drinks to get to know the other guests, and kick off the weekend of celebrations!

Among the many pre-wedding events that occur prior to official ceremonies in Indian culture, the Sangeet is where the party begins. The word Sangeet translates to ‘sung together’ from Sanskrit. A celebration for the wedding to come, the Sangeet is solely conducted to relish in the happiness and joy surrounding the couple.

Recommended Attire: as this event will be a fusion of cultures, we welcome you to wear whatever cocktail/reception attire you'd like. Check out our Pinterest Board specific to this event for some ideas!

Traditional White, Western Wedding Ceremony

Wedding Ceremony #1: Black-tie

Join us for the first of our two wedding ceremonies. This ceremony will honor Western culture and customs. Dinner and dancing to follow.

The bride and groom request that Saturday's ceremony and reception be an adults-only affair. Information on child-care options can be found in the Travel section.

Attire recommendations: This will be a Formal/Black-tie ceremony. We've accumulated a few ideas at the link below, but please know they are only ideas. Please dress according to your own cultures and customs.

Traditional Hindu Ceremony

The coming together of two families.

Hindu weddings are vibrant, intricately planned, culture-rich festivities full of celebration and tradition. While the very essence of a Hindu wedding ceremony is the physical, spiritual, and emotional union of two people; it's also about the coming together of two families through prayer and celebration.

The arrival of the groom and his party to the ceremony site, called the baraat, is celebrated with great joy. As guests arrive, they will be directed to a meeting place to join Aman's traditional processional entry.

Dinner and celebration to follow!

Attire recommendations: Brighter is better! Don't be afraid to wear a bold color...bride wears red FYI, so consider avoiding that :) Eye-catching jewelry encouraged. If you don't have a traditional saree or lengha, don't worry—a jewel-tone dress with a shawl is appropriate for the ladies, and a brightly colored jacket or shirt are a great option for the fellas.
